TossOrKeep.co.uk is a free food shelf-life reference tool. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use it, and what rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).

2. Cookies
We use the minimum cookies needed to operate the site and, only with your consent, to serve advertising.

3. Google AdSense and advertising
TossOrKeep.co.uk uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. This is how the free service is funded.
- If you accept advertising cookies, Google may use cookies and device identifiers to serve personalised ads based on your interests and browsing history.
- If you decline or have not yet decided, AdSense will serve non-personalised ads only — ads based on the page content, not your personal history.
- Google acts as a data controller for data it collects through AdSense. See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can also opt out of Google personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. This means Google's advertising scripts receive your consent signal before loading, and personalised tracking only activates if you have consented.
4. How we share data
We do not sell personal data. Data may be shared with:
- Cloudflare — infrastructure and DDoS protection; processes request metadata.
- Google AdSense / Google LLC — advertising (consent-gated, as described above).
- Resend — transactional email delivery for waitlist and contact responses.
No other third parties receive personal data from TossOrKeep.co.uk.
5. Data retention
- Search queries and event logs: retained for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- IP addresses in logs: retained for up to 30 days.
- Waitlist email addresses: retained until you request removal.
- Fridge tracker data: stored only on your device; we never see it.
6. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction — ask us to stop processing your data in certain circumstances.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent — for advertising cookies, use the Manage Cookies button at any time. For email communications, email us to unsubscribe.
To exercise any right, contact [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
7. Children
TossOrKeep.co.uk is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Affiliate links
Some product links on TossOrKeep.co.uk are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, TossOrKeep.co.uk may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links do not affect the food safety guidance shown.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law or our practices. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
